Mary E. Stiver

Mary E. Stiver Mary Elizabeth (Hebrank) Weil Stiver passed away Oct. 12, 2021 in Manhattan, KS. Born May 25, 1941 on a rural farm near Wilsey, KS, she was the daughter of Albert Eugene and Mary Margaret (Scott) Hebrank.

On November 23, 1963, she married Jerry David Weil in Council Grove, KS. They divorced 40 years later. She married Harold Eugene Stiver on June 10, 2005 in Manhattan, KS.

Mary graduated from Wilsey Rural High School (‘59), Emporia State Teacher's College (Bachelor’s Degree ‘64); and Kansas State University (Master of Science ‘77). She taught 8 years in Manhattan; at Theodore Roosevelt, 3rd Grade 1964-66; Northview Elementary, 3rd Grade 1966-68; Theodore Roosevelt & Woodrow Wilson, Basic Skills, 1973-74. She also taught in Adamstown, Maryland, 4th Grade, Dec. 1970-June ’71. Danville, Illinois, 4th Grade Aug. ’71- May ’73. She then returned to Kansas where she taught for thirty years; Barton Co. Special Services at Great Bend in 1974, and then in Ellinwood, KS Special Education 1975-2005. She was the Technology Coordinator at Ellinwood from 2000-2005. With a love of music since childhood, and blessed with a beautiful soprano voice, Mary was often involved in solos, community musicals, and church choirs. She was a member and leader in Delta Kappa Gamma, 4-H participation and the Kansas Arabian Horse Club.

Survivors include her husband, Harold E. Stiver, of the home, daughter Elizabeth ‘Beth’ Ann Weil Baxter of Tucson, AZ and son Jason Todd (Kim) Weil of Topeka, KS; grandchildren Rachel Ann Baxter, Jared Alexander Weil, and Justin Walter Weil; sister-in-laws V. Maurine Hebrank, Manhattan, KS and Carol (Mike) Warden, Manhattan, KS; three step-daughters Robin (Jeff) Falter, Wilsey, KS; Teresa Stiver, Colorado Springs, CO and Danette (Tim) Ryan, Parker, CO. Six step-grandchildren: Jason Falter, Justin (Alison) Falter, Amber Freeman, Heather Freeman, Jessica Ryan & Amanda Ryan. Nephew, Philip Eugene Hebrank; niece, Karen Ann (Bruce) Buhler.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her only sibling; Kenneth Eugene Hebrank.

Cremation has taken place, and at her request, the only services will be private family, held at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the Kansas State University Foundation or Good Shepherd Homecare & Hospice in care of the funeral home.
