Vadaline S. Strohm

Vadaline S. Strohm Vadaline S. Strohm, age 92, of Manhattan, died Sunday December 22, 2019 at the Homestead Assisted Living in Manhattan.

She was born on March 10, 1927 in Larned, Kansas, the daughter of Arthur and Edna (Bird) Strobel. After graduating from high school, she attended Kansas State University and earned her Master’s Degree Dietetics.

On December 30, 1951 in Garfield, Kansas she was united in marriage to James A. Strohm. They were blessed with two children, Gary and Gayla.

Vadaline was very proud of her children and their accomplishments. Education was important to Vadaline, both her children attended and earned a college degree. Gary was received the Seaton Scholarship at Kansas State University.

Vadaline was the County extension agent for Comanche County for a couple of years. She also worked as a Food Service director at Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of the AAUW (American Association of University Women), a long-time member of the Stardusters Study Group, a member of the Creative Cookery Group, and also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Manhattan.

She was preceded in death by her husband and also her brother, Melvin Strobel.

Vadaline is survived by her children.

The family will greet friends during a visitation from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday December 27, 2019 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday December 28, 2019 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Melanie Nord officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan.

Memorial contributions are suggested in memory of Mrs. Strohm to the First United Methodist Church or the AAUW Scholarship Fund @ GMCF. Contributions may be left in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
