Marion Boydston

Marion Boydston Marion C. Boydston, 99, of Manhattan passed away on August 21, 2019.

Marion was born on March 23, 1920, in Cut Bank, Montana, to Esther and Otto Elmer. Marion grew up in Manhattan, graduated from Manhattan High School and Kansas State University. In 1943 she met and married Richard Boydston of Kansas City, weeks before he was shipped off to the European Theater in World War II. After the war, Marion and Dick and their two children lived in Butler, Missouri, Topeka and Prairie Village, Kansas, Des Moines Iowa, and Minneapolis, Minnesota. Marion and Dick retired to her home town of Manhattan in 1977.

Marion was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, PEO, the Manhattan Book Club, as well as a number of other civic and social clubs. She also was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Marion’s husband, Dick, preceded her in death in 1998. She leaves behind her son, Rick, of Cincinnati, Ohio, her daughter, Anne Park and husband, Will, of Bryn Mawr, PA. Her grandchildren include Nathan Park of Kathmandu, Nepal, Britton Stevens of Sarasota, Florida, Ned Boydston of San Diego, California, and Alec Boydston of The Hague, Netherlands. She also leaves behind seven great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, September 23, 2019 at 1:00p.m. at the Harris Activity Center Chapel, 530 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas, with Pastor Melanie Nord officiating. Private inurnment will be held at Sunset Cemetery in Manhattan.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in the memory of Marion to the Meadowlark Hills Good Samaritan Fund. Contributions may be left in the care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
