Naomi J. Berber

Naomi J. Berber Naomi Jean Berber, age 86, of Manhattan, died April 29, 2019, at Meadowlark Hills – Lyle House.

She was born July 28, 1932, in Riley County, Kansas, the daughter of Roland and Frances (Dexter) Algott.

Naomi graduated from Leonardville High School and earned her LPN Certification from Manhattan Area Technical College.

She was a homemaker and worked for several years as a LPN at College Hill Nursing Home.

Naomi was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing, fishing, playing bridge and hunting mushrooms. Most of all Naomi loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

On August 5, 1951, at Danforth Chapel at Kansas State University, she was married to T.J. Berber. T.J. preceded her in death on January 30, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her son T.J. Berber, Jr.

Survivors include her two daughters: Mary Jo Nelson and her husband David of St. George, KS, and Treva S. Berber; one brother, Larry Algott (Mary) of Wamego, KS; three grandchildren: Kinzie Jo Nelson and her fiancé Tim, Joshua Nelson (Courtney) and Kelli Nelson Greenwalt (Adam); and two great grandchildren: Pierce George Nelson and Abel Nelson Greenwalt.

The family would like to recognize Lyle House Coordinator Sherry Smith for her special loving care of Naomi. Additionally they would like to thank the rest of the wonderful staff at Meadowlark Hills who cared for mom.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, May 4th, at the Sunrise Cemetery with Father Kerry Ninemire officiating. The family will host a gathering from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the Kansas Room Pub at Meadowlark Hills.
