LaVern L. French

LaVern L. French LaVern Lucille French, age 89. Of Manhattan, died March 29, 2019 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

She was born on February 2, 1930 the daughter of John and Fern Lucille (Puett) Lake in the Ashland Bottom area in Manhattan. She attended schools in Ashland Bottom and Manhattan.

LaVern was employed at Perry Packing, R. and G. Grocery, she then worked as a housekeeper at the St. Mary’s Hospital. She lived in Phoenix from 1960 until 1972.

LaVern was married to Lester Earl Cross on November 15, 1947 in Manhattan. He died on September 30, 1958. She was then married to Ernest Willard Isaacson on November 7, 1964 in Phoenix, Arizona. He died on January 12, 1972. On June 16, 1973 in Ogden, Kansas she was united in marriage to Leonard French. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1996.

Survivors include her stepdaughter, Patricia Carpentier, of Wichita, her stepsons: Steve French, of Manhattan and Larry French, of Santa Fe, Texas; 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, and also her 2 nieces and 2 nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother Larry Lee Lake in 1985.

Funeral Services for LaVern will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday April 6, 2019 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel in Manhattan, with the Rev. Ben Duerfeldt officiating. Interment will follow in the Ashland Cemetery south of Manhattan.

The family will greet friends during a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
