Gerald "Jerry" Moran

Gerald Gerald F. Moran, age 82, died on Friday February 22, 2019 at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community, Manhattan, Kansas.

He was born on January 31, 1937 in Bay St. Louis, Miss. He attended grade school and high school in Biloxi, Miss and was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Miss. He served 6 years active duty in the U.S. Navy and 17 years Naval Reserve, retiring as a Commander in 1983. The rest of his career was spent in the Defense Intelligence Agency until his retirement in 1992.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Patricia and sons: Michael of El Reno, OK and Mark of Amarillo, TX. Also surviving are his beloved daughter-in-law: Shelly and treasured grandsons: Scott & Jacob Moran. He leaves one sister: Jean Kuluz of Biloxi, Miss, numerous sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

After spending most of their life on the East Coast, Jerry and Pat welcomed retirement to Manhattan in 1992. They enjoyed making new friends and being among family in the Midwest.

Memorial Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday March 1, 2019 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church 2900 Kimball Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas with Father Earl Befort officiating. Interment with full military honors will be at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Fort Riley, Manhattan, Kansas.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas with the Vigil Service at 7:30.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation at Meadowlark Hills in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502. The family extends their gratitude for the loving care Jerry was given at Sloan House in Meadowlark.
