Wilma M. Weckerling

Wilma M. Weckerling Wilma May Weckerling, age 101, a longtime Manhattan resident, died February 20, 2019, in Mission, KS.

She was born February 2, 1918, Almena, Kansas, the daughter of Claude and Frances (Bullock) Thompson. Wilma was a resident of Manhattan from 1935 to 2000, when she moved to Topeka, and then in 2011 moved to Mission.

Wilma graduated from Kansas State University with her bachelor’s in Home Economics.

On July 5, 1942, in Jetmore, Kansas, she was married to Maurice J. Weckerling.

Mrs. Weckerling was a homemaker and had worked for the Rolands County Extension Department.

She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and Order of Eastern Star of which she was a past Worthy Matron.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Maurice on June 24, 2012; by her son Maurice “John” Weckerling, Jr; by one grandson Michael Klimek; and by seven brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her daughter Susan O’Neill and her husband Mike of Mission, KS; daughter-in-law: Lot Weckerling of Topeka, KS; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 10:45 A.M. Saturday, March 2nd, at the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan, KS, with Reverend Ben Duerfeldt officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:30 A.M. Saturday morning at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home prior to forming a procession to the cemetery.
