Mary "Vi" Wilkinson

Mary Mary Violet “Vi” Wilkinson, age 90, died on Saturday February 16, 2019, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House, Manhattan, Kansas.

She was born on December 24, 1928, in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of Charles and Lavina (Scheetz) Mathias. Vi graduated from Washington High School in 1946. She worked as an office manager for Herb Hyland Law Offices and later was the Clerk of the District School Board for USD 222 until her retirement in 1993.

On May 6, 1947, she was united in marriage to Paul Keith Wilkinson in Washington, Kansas. This union was blessed with 4 children: Steven, Jim, Mary, and Susie.

Vi and Paul thoroughly enjoyed attending musical events and plays, especially at K-State’s McCain Auditorium. She also enjoyed playing golf and bridge, where at one time she was a part of 5 different bridge clubs. Vi and Paul were supporters of all K-State sports along with the Kansas City Royals. Above all, she loved being with her family, especially being “Grandma Great” to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Paul on November 12, 2008, and her brother: James Mathias.

Survivors include her children: Steven Wilkinson (Wanda) of Overland Park, KS; Jim Wilkinson (Georgia) of Seaford, NY; Mary Napier (Ron) of Topeka, KS; and Susie Wilkinson of Manhattan; 7 grandchildren:
Jeff Wilkinson; Jared (Amanda) Wilkinson; Travis (Corey) Napier; Emily (Bret) Lickteig; Abby Treadwell;
Cole Wilkinson; and Brynne Wilkinson; 6 great-grandchildren: Ty, Nyah, and Trystan Napier; Miles and Reed Wilkinson; and Bryce Lickteig; and, many other family members and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 25, 2019, at the St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2900 Kimball Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas with Father Frank Coady officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery, Manhattan, Kansas.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday February 24, 2019, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas. The Vigil Service/Rosary will follow at 4:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Hospice House or to St. Thomas More Catholic Church in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
