John R. Creviston

John R. Creviston John R. Creviston, age 93, of Manhattan, died November 26, 2018, at Via Christi Village in Manhattan.

He was born October 13, 1925, in Manhattan, the son of John B. and Alta Blanche (Teas) Creviston. John graduated from Manhattan High School and attended Kansas State University for 2 years.

He served in the United States Navy from December 1943 to June 1946 as a MM III. He worked for 37 years at Kansas State University as a supervisor in the power plant, retiring in 1987.

John was a member of the Eagles Lodge, life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Elks Lodge # 1185. He served as secretary for the Eagles Lodge for 5 years.

He enjoyed repairing clocks, woodworking and square dancing.

He was married to Esther Randall, they later divorced. He later married Doreen McElderry, they later divorced. His longtime companion was Ruby D. Mann.

John is survived by his four daughters: Shari Reeves of Manhattan, Diane Shiever and her husband David of Florissant, MO, Debbie Byrd and her husband Jim of Florence, KY, and Sandi Rhodeman of Derby, KS; one sister Bona Heitman of Beachwood, NJ; his companion Ruby of Manhattan; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by five siblings: Joann Cunningham, Don and Robert Creviston, and twin brothers in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 30th, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Daneale White officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Valley View Memorial Park east of Manhattan.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, November 29th, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home.
