Doris N. Gaul

Doris N. Gaul Doris Nadine Gaul, age 94, of Manhattan, died Tuesday November 6, 2018 at the Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community in Manhattan.

She was born on May 22, 1924 on the family farm in Daviess County, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph and Nellie (Nussbaum) Kinsella. She attended Daviess County Public Schools and graduated from Winston High School with the class of 1941. Doris then attended Platt Business School in St. Joseph, Missouri.

On August 9, 1946 she was united in marriage to Victor L. Gaul of Troy, Kansas. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1995.

Doris was an active mother, farm wife, 4-H leader, Sunday School and VBS teacher. She loved to sing in the church choir over the years. When Doris lived at Meadowlark Hills in Manhattan, she would sing as much as possible with the Meadowlark Singers group.

She took a job at the Doniphan County Treasurers office in 1965. She worked there for 30 years. After retiring from the courthouse, she moved to Manhattan, where her children, Linda and Owen live. Doris was involved with a lot of volunteer work at the hospital and the public library. In 2010 she sold her home in Manhattan and moved to Meadowlark Hills apartments. She enjoyed the many activities and especially the Meadowlark Singers group.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Courtney McCollough.

Doris is survived by her children: Linda K. McCollough of Manhattan, Owen A. Gaul of Manhattan, and Vicki L. Burbridge of Fountain Hills, Arizona; also her 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and her many other family members who will miss her.

A Celebration Gathering will be held from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. Thursday November 15, 2018 at the Meadowlark Hills – Manhattan Room in Manhattan.

The family will greet friends during a visitation from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. Thursday November 15, 2018 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday November 16, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church in Wathena, Kansas. The Family will greet friends from 1:00p.m. until service time at the church before the service. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Troy, Kansas.

Memorial contributions in memory of Doris are suggested to the Meadowlark Hills Good Samaritan Fund or the St. Luke’s Lutheran Church Endowment Fund. Contributions may be left in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
