Melvin Lohse

Melvin Lohse Melvin Eugene Lohse was born on January 23, 1935 on the family farm near Hanover, Kansas, the son of Martin Lohse and his wife Verna Rettig Lohse. He received his gift of eternal life through faith in Christ on Monday, October 29, 2018 while resident of The Hanover Hospital. Melvin was 83 years, 9 months, and 7 days old.

He was Baptized on February 3, 1935 at Trinity Lutheran Church of Hanover, Kansas, by the Rev. Dr. William Mahler. His Sponsors were: August Hartig, Herman Lohse, and Edwin Lohse.

He was Confirmed in the Christian faith on April 10, 1949 at Trinity by the Rev. Theo Kauffeld.

On August 18, 1957 Melvin was united in marriage to Donna Parscal at Grace Lutheran Church, of El Dorado, Kansas, by the Rev. Eric O. Metzdorf.

Melvin served his Lord as a lifelong, faithful member of Trinity Lutheran; as and Elder of Trinity; as a member of The Church Building Committee; and as the Financial Secretary for Trinity.

Melvin was a farmer and carpenter. He served on the Board of Directors of the Farmer’s Coop Filling Station and on the Board of Directors of the Farmer’s Coop Elevator, both of Hanover.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Martin and Verna; by his step-mom Hulda Lohse; by his Sister-in-Law: Anita Lohse; by his Brothers-in-law: Charlies, Kenny, Leslie, and Richard Parscal.

He is survived by his wife Donna of Hanover; by his children: Larry Lohse and his wife Tami of Hanover; Jerry Lohse and his wife Syndee of Marysville, Kansas; Ronda Mitchell and her husband Dale of Chappel, Nebraska; and by Teresa Howard and her husband David of York, Nebraska. He is survived by his Brothers: Myron Lohse of Hanover, and Norman Lohse and his wife Darlene of Marysville. He is survived by his Sister: Verna Saathoff and her husband Loren of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and by his Brother-in-Law: Carlos Parscal of Athens, Greece. He is survived by 12 Grandchildren, 11 Great-Grandchildren, and by his many nieces, nephews and his many, many friends.

We give thanks to the Lord for all of His blessings poured out upon Melvin during his life, especially for his gift of eternal life in Heaven that he now enjoys through faith in Christ our Lord.

The family will greet friends during a visitation from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday November 1, 2018 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hanover.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hanover, with Rev. Rodney D. Fritz officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery.
