Ronald Lee "Ron" Vinson, Jr.

Ronald Lee Ronald Lee “Ron” Vinson, Jr., age 43, died on Tuesday October 23, 2018 at his residence in Manhattan, Kansas.

He was born on December 12, 1974 in Orange, CA the son of Ronald Lee and Sandra Ann (Murphy) Vinson. Ron entered into the United States Marine Corps on February 2, 1994 and proudly served until February 1, 1998 at the rank of Cpl. He then entered into the United States Army on June 16, 2000 and served his country until his retirement on October 31, 2016 at the rank of SSG. Ron was awarded numerous awards for his honorable service that included multiple tours in Iraq, Germany, Afghanistan and many other parts of the world.

Ron was a true fisherman and enjoyed camping and spending time outdoors with his family. He had many, many friends, but his best friends were his dogs: Princess, Nala and Mocha. His biggest joy was being with his family.

He was united in marriage to Melanie Couvillion on April 30, 1994 in Millington, TN. This union was blessed with 3 children: Erich, Nathan and Amber.

Ron was preceded in death by his father: Ronald Lee Vinson, Sr.

Survivors include his wife: Melanie of Manhattan, KS; his children: Erich Vinson, Nathan Vinson and Amber Vinson, all of Manhattan, KS; his mother: Sandra Ann Springer, Atoka, TN; his sister: Angel Vinson, Manhattan, KS; aunt and uncle: Jack & Sandy Vinson, Chesapeake, Virginia and a niece and nephew: Avery Timbs and Alex Raymond Timbs, Jr. of Manhattan, Ks along with many other family members and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday October 30, 2018 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas with Rev. Ben Duerfeldt officiating. Private inurnment will be at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ron Vinson, Jr. Memorial Fund (with checks payable to Melanie Vinson) for a memorial fund to be established later. They can be left in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
