Kathleen Louise "Kat" Hemard

Kathleen Louise Kathleen Louise “Kat” Hemard, age 67, of Manhattan, died October 18, 2018, at her residence as the result of pancreatic cancer.

She was born September 6, 1951, in Hazelgreen, Wisconsin, the daughter of Robert and Josephine (Hibbard) Hoskinson.

Kathy grew up in California and graduated from high school in Sacramento, CA.

On December 24, 1987, in Salinas, CA, she was married to Anthony Troy Hemard, Soldier
US Army (Ret.) they were married for 31 years.

Kathy had worked for the Defense Language Institute in California and Virginia until she moved to Italy and then Germany before coming to Fort Riley Kansas but what she loved best was taking care of her husband and the cats. Kathy will be missed by many but never forgotten.

She was a member of the Daughters of the 42nd Rainbow Division as her father was a German prisoner of war during World War II. She performed extensive research for the family members of the 42nd Rainbow Division and others tracing their whereabouts during the war. Her grandfather was a well-known sculptor Fred C. Hibbard and she researched all of the granite and bronze sculptors that he built all over the United States.

Kat is survived by her husband Anthony of Manhattan. Additional survivors include two sisters: Nancy Hibbard and Elizabeth Hoskinson; brother in law Charles Krantz wife Erin; nieces and nephews: Charlie, Summer, Ava and Andrea; and her best friend Suellen McDaniel of North Carolina.

Cremation is planned.
