Doug D. Murphy

Doug D. Murphy Douglas Dean Murphy, age 60, of St. George, Kansas, died Wednesday September 5, 2018 at the Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan.

Doug was born on November 30, 1957 in Manhattan, the son of Harrison “Sarge” and Eileen (Padgett) Murphy. He grew up in the area, he attended Manhattan schools. After high school he enrolled in Manhattan Vo-Tech College and graduated from the auto mechanics program.

He always enjoyed being around friends and family. Working on cars and motorcycles was his passion, he also loved to work on old slot machines. Before his health declined he always was out riding his motorcycles whenever he could. Doug was a great inventor of many things. One of his other hobbies was just sitting and watching the birds, if it was the hummingbirds outside at the bird feeders or his parakeets in his house.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, Sarge Murphy and his sister, Rhonda Murphy.

He is survived by the love of his life for over 35 years, Lisa Neubert, of their home in St. George; his mother Eileen Murphy; his daughter Megan Murphy, and his six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; also he is survived by his sister, Jo Ellen Coaten, his brothers: Rodney Zaruba, Bill Raines, and John Raines.

The family will greet friends during a visitation from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Thursday September 13, 2018 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.

Celebration of Life Services will be held following the visitation at 4:00p.m. Thursday September 13, 2018 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel. Private Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home, to assist with funeral expenses. Contributions may be left in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
