Michael W. Moore

Michael W. Moore Michael William Moore, age 65, of Manhattan, died July 31, 2018, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan.

He was born August 4, 1952, in Minneapolis, MN, the son of William Worral and Geraldine Marie “Gerry” (Giddings) Moore.

Michael graduated from Southwest State University in Marshall, MN, with his bachelors in Chemistry.

He worked for the Pillsbury Company in quality assurance in Minneapolis, MN, Ogden, UT and Kansas City, KS, from 1976 to 1982, and then at the American Institute of Baking in Manhattan from 1983 to 2004 as an instructor teaching a 20-week Baking Science and Technology resident course, was a property manager for Moore Property Management until 2011 when he became an instructor at Kansas State University in the Grain Science and Industry Department.

Michael was married to Barbara J. Dunbar on September 27, 1986, in Kansas City, MO. Barbara survives of Manhattan. Additional survivors include their two children: Allison Hoffman and her husband Lucas of Richfield, MN, and Richard Moore of Minneapolis, MN; four siblings: Steve Moore (Kelli) of Alexandria, MN, Ann Moody (Vanyo) of Mankato, MN, Sandy Moore (Rick Jestus) of Wyoming, MN, and Susie Bradford (Wayne) of Richfield, MN; many beloved nieces and nephews; and he was looking forward to the birth of his first grandson in November.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Robert and Richard.

Cremation is planned with a Celebration of his Life Gathering from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Saturday, August 4th, at the Poyntz Avenue Shelter in City Park. Additional services and inurnment will be at a later date in Minnesota.
