Karen J. Williamson

Karen J. Williamson Karen J. Williamson, age 78, of Manhattan, passed on July 17, 2018, at Kansas University Medical Center.

She was born May 21, 1940, in Hays, Kansas, the daughter of John Leroy and Marthella Pearl (Baker) Oldham.

Karen graduated from Hays High School in 1958 and earned her Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Kansas State University in 1962. She married John “Monty” Williamson on August 4, 1962 in Hays, Kansas.

Karen taught in schools in Arvada, Colorado, and in Manhattan, Kansas, and was a real estate agent in Manhattan for 25 years.

She enjoyed tailgating at Kansas State University games, traveling, gardening, cooking, playing bridge and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Karen was a loving, caring, and funny wife, mother, sister and friend. She was well known throughout the community for touching many lives and had an extended network of friends. She graciously welcomed people to her home; many people still consider her their “second mom. “

Karen will be missed by her husband Monty of Manhattan; three sons: J. Bret Williamson and his wife Janet M.C. of Manhattan, Sean Eric Williamson of Manhattan, and Darin Williamson and his wife Katie of Carlsbad, CA; four grandchildren: J. Lee, Emma Kajo, Skylar and Bryce, and her sister Cheyenne Olson of Berea, KY. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jackson LeRoy Oldham of California.

A celebration of Karen’s life will be at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, September 22, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel.
