Thomas E. Chavey

Thomas E. Chavey Thomas Edward Chavey passed away unexpectedly at home in Manhattan, KS on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the age of 72.

He was the son of Edward and Elsine Chavey, Tom was born July 25, 1945 in Clay Center, KS. He graduated from Clyde High School in 1964 and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Kansas State University in 1995.

Tom married Sue Pacey on February 12, 1966 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Miltonvale, KS. Their family farmed for 20 years in rural Cloud County, KS and moved to Manhattan, KS in 1987.

Tom was a longtime member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as both a Grand Knight and 4th Degree Faithful Navigator.

He was an avid K-State football fan and proud season ticket holder for 30 years. Tom enjoyed traveling several times a year with Sue by his side and together they created a lifetime of memories.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and father-in-law Franklin Pacey.

Tom is survived by his wife Sue of 52 years, children Debbie (Scott William) Chavey Webb, Ed (Michelle) Chavey, grandchildren Nicholas (Ashtin) Webb, Lindsey, Haley and Emma Chavey; siblings Irene (Ray) Tremblay, Jean (Steve) Sorell, Beth Kieffer, Mark (Julie) Chavey and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will greet friends during a visitation from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday May 29, 2018 at the St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2900 Kimball Avenue in Manhattan. A Vigil Service will follow the visitation at 7:30 p.m. at the church.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday May 30, 2018 at the St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Manhattan, with Father Don Zimmerman as Celebrant. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday May 30 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in St. Joseph, Kansas.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery. Contributions may be left in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
