Ella A. Lundberg

Ella A. Lundberg Ella A. (Laging) Lundberg, age 95, a longtime Manhattan resident, died April 22, 2018, at the Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan.

She was born January 23, 1923, in Alma, Kansas, the daughter of Henry and Ida (Soelter) Laging.

Ella graduated from Alma High School in 1941, and then worked at the Alma Courthouse for two years and then in Topeka for John Morrell and Company.

She was married to James E. Lundberg, Sr. on April 21, 1944, in Alma, Kansas, at Peace Evangelical Church.

Ella was a homemaker and was active in Cub and Boys Scouts while the children were young. She was also an excellent cook, enjoyed quilting and watching Kansas State sports.

She was preceded in death by her husband James on April 14, 1994. She was also preceded in death by two siblings: Edgar Laging and Olga Mogge.

Survivors include her five children: Ronald Lundberg and his wife Cheri of Manhattan, Michael Lundberg and his wife Betty of Manhattan, James E. Lundberg, Jr. and his wife Lynne of Manhattan, Diane Washington and her husband Butch of Manhattan, and Randal Lundberg and his wife Marcy of Arkansas City, KS, and; one sister, Edna Palenske of Alma; 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:00 P.M. Friday at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, at 2:00 P.M. a procession will be formed to the cemetery. Graveside services will be held 2:30 P.M. Friday at the Valley View Memorial Park east of Manhattan, with Reverend Ben Duerfeldt officiating.
