Lavonne A. (Kitty) Cool

Lavonne  A. (Kitty) Cool Kitty Cool, age 91, of Manhattan, died Tuesday March 20, 2018 at the Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community in Manhattan.

Lavonne Antoinette Theobald was born on February 2, 1927 in Yates Center, Kansas, the daughter of Harry and Amalia (Leimbach) Theobald. She grew up in Yates Center and graduated from Yates Center High School with the class of 1945. After high school she attended Kansas State University and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics.

Kitty worked for 20 years at the KSU Veterinary Medical Clinic in medical records. She was a charter member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Manhattan. Kitty also was a volunteer for many years at the Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan. She loved to cheer on all the Kansas State sports programs.

On August 14, 1949 she was united in marriage to Vincent J. Cool in Yates Center. He preceded her in death on February 27, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Trula M. Wagner, Cleo M. Theobald, Haven C. Theobald, and Galen C. Theobald.

She is survived by her children: Marcelyn K. Schmedemann (Ron), of Tampa, Florida, Rod Cool (Debbie), of Lenexa, Kansas, and Kent Cool (Kari), of Manhattan. Additional survivors include her six grandchildren: Rhys Schmedemann, Rhett Schmedemann, Jared Cool (Blair), Travis Cool, Kendra Cool, Kory Cool (Sam), and Konner Cool; and her great-grandchildren: Angelia, Chiara, Bellina, Easton, Oakley, and Lakin; and her brother, Harry E. Theobald, of Yates Center, and locally a brother-in-law, Bill Cool, of Manhattan.

The family will greet friends during a visitation on Friday March 23, 2018 from 6:00 until 7:30 the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1110 College Avenue in Manhattan. Private interment will be held in the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan.

Memorial funds in memory of Kitty are suggested to Homecare and Hospice Inc, Trinity Presbyterian Church, or the Meadowlark Hills Good Samaritan Fund. Contributions may be left in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
