Janice Maurine Bernave

Janice Maurine Bernave Janice Maurine Bernave, age 58, died on January 28, 2018 at her residence in Buena Park, CA.

She was born on September 14, 1959 in Ogden, Kansas to Glen & Eloise (Green) Puett. She graduated from Manhattan High School in 1978 and then attended Manhattan Area Technical College, where she received a certificate in Food Service Management.

In 1978 Janice married Greg Young in Manhattan, Kansas. They had their first son Shane, in December 1980 and their second son Chad, in October 1984. They divorced a few years later and she moved to Southern California with the boys. It was there that she met Efrain, while working at a nursing home, where they both worked. Janice and Efrain married in 1989. They had two daughters together, Amie who was born in October 1989 and Marcy who was born in May 1991.

Janice always had a heart for helping others, especially the elderly. She spent several years working at nursing homes as a food service manager. She then had her own business for over 20 years, cleaning homes and providing care to the elderly. Her heart always had a special place for the elderly and she had a special gift in being able to connect with them. Janice was also very involved in her church, attending bible studies and volunteering with the youth programs. She loved her church family at Cypress Church, where she attended for 25 years.

Janice loved her children and spent a lot of time watching them play sports over the years. A huge lover of baseball, she enjoyed attending Angels games as often as she could. She also created many memories taking trips with her sisters and aunts.
Janice is survived by her husband Efrain and her children: Shane & Timarie Young, Chad & Megan Young, Nathan & Amie Lindshield and Marcy Bernave. Along with her 5 grandchildren: Avery, Chloe, Westen, Nash & Maverick Young. She is also survived by her brothers Joseph Leonardo & Ben Puett and her sisters June Johnson, Janie Keen, JoNell Balderson, and honorary sister Susie Brown.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 10th, at the Yorgenen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ben Duerfeldt officiating. Interment will follow in the Ashland Cemetery south of Manhattan.
