Belva June Dishman

Belva June Dishman Belva June Dishman, age 74, of Manhattan, Kansas, died Friday, January 12, 2018, at the Meadowlark Hills-Bramlage House in Manhattan.

She was born on June 6, 1943, in Joplin, Missouri, the daughter of Ernest Albert and Vina Roberta (Jackson) Hurst. Belva was raised in the Joplin area where she attended local schools, graduating from high school in Carl Junction, Missouri.

Belva was married to Jerry J. Dishman, Sr. They made their home in Manhattan since 1961 where Belva was a loving homemaker. For many years she also worked in food service for USD 383, primarily at Manhattan High School.

Belva was a member of AARP. Her hobbies included playing Bingo, reading, working crosswords, fishing, and going to the casino. Her greatest love was for her family and friends. She especially cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry, and by three children: Jackie Santo (Russell), Kansas City, KS; Jerry J. Dishman, Jr. (Robin), Beatrice, NE; and Kim Stevenson of Niotaze, KS. Also surviving are her five grandchildren: Bethany Santo, Jonathan Santo, Kyle Dishman, Molly Stevenson, Rachel Stevenson, two great-grandchildren: Kailey and Kendall, two brothers: Ernest D. Hurst of Washington State; and Billy G. Osborn of Joplin, MO; and one sister: Joyce Witmer (Gary) of Manhattan, KS.

Belva was preceded in death by her parents, by one brother: Charles D. Hurst and by two sisters: Dora Ann Osborn and JoAnn Holden.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 18, 2018, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ben Duerfeldt officiating.
