Helen Marie Ott, age 75, of Manhattan, died January 6, 2018 at Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan.

She was born August 28, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri, and was adopted by Stuart and Rose Pady, and lived most of her life in Manhattan.

Helen graduated from Manhattan High School and from nursing training from Sisters of St. Joseph in Salina in 1965.

She was married to Ronnell “Ron” Ott, on August 28, 1965, in Manhattan.

Helen started out as a Candy Striper. Upon becoming a Registered Nurse, she worked in Virginia Beach. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Kansas State University Lafene Student Health Center for 25 years, retiring in 2004. She also worked as a RN for Riley County Health Department, St. Joseph’s Nursing Center and Dr. Hostetter’s Office. She was considered a diploma nurse but gained certified accreditation for College Health Nursing the first year it was available in 1993. This was the equivalent of a Master’s Degree. She had a natural gift for making all people feel cared for and special. Her sense of humor and grace always put people at ease.

Helen enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. She loved Kansas State and for many years she and Ron had K-State Football season tickets and also traveled to several bowl games. Her unconditional love for her family was a foundation of strength. Her belief in God sustained her and was an example to everyone.
Survivors include her husband Ron of Manhattan; two daughters: Leslie White and her husband Randy of Overbrook, KS, and Heidi Crain and her husband Ryan of Kansas City, MO; one granddaughter Kiki White; and one brother Donald Pady and his wife Carol of Ames, IA.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation is planned with memorial services to be held at Via Christi Village, 2800 Willow Grove Road, Manhattan, KS on February 10th at 2:00 PM.
