Michael J. Staatz

Michael J. Staatz Michael Jay Staatz, age 50, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at his home.

Michael was born July 10, 1967 in Manhattan, Kansas, the son of Julius David "JD" Staatz and Deanna Marcella (Ray) Staatz.

Michael enjoyed being surrounded by friends and family and had a love for Rolling Stones music. Michael's most precious and greatest gifts were his children. He loved his children dearly and when he was with them he was truly satisfied and so proud to be their father.

Michael lived in Kansas until 1976 when his family relocated to Texas. Texas is where he spent most of his childhood and made many lifelong friendships. Michael attended Saint Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Yoakum High School in 1985. He also attended Delmar College and relocated to Kansas in 1999 where joined the sheet metal workers Union in Kansas.

Survivors include his five beautiful children: Kelsey, Dylan, Brandon, Tyler and Alyssa all living in Kansas; his mother, Deanna Staatz of Arkansas; and his brother, David Staatz of Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his father, JD Staatz, in September 2017.

The family will greet friends during a visitation on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.

Funeral services will be held at Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel on Thursday, November 9, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. with Father Kerry Ninemire officiating. Interment will follow the service at the St. Patrick's Cemetery in Ogden, Kansas.

Donations in memory of Michael can be made to the Epilepsy Foundation (https://epilepsyfoundation.givenow.stratuslive.com/donate) in honor of his youngest son who has epilepsy in hopes that someday there is a cure. Donations may be left in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
