Kurt C. Cramer

Kurt C. Cramer Kurtis Clive "Kurt" Cramer, age 58, of Glasco, Kansas, died October 16, 2017, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan.

Kurt was born January 30, 1959, in Salina, Kansas, the son of Clive Orland and Ruth LeAnna (Haddock) Cramer.

Kurt graduated from Glasco High School in 1977 and, after an exchange year to Germany, he attended Kansas State University. He traveled around the world on a Semester at Sea, then returned to Kansas and graduated with bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Kansas.

Kurt had a fearless and adventurous spirit, living much of his life abroad. He had a gift for making friends and maintained contact with many around the globe. His professional life focused on the performing arts. He acted in and consulted on several films, wrote numerous screenplays, wrote the lyrics and composed music to over 400 songs, and co-owned and operated Prague Indies Production Company in Prague, Czech Republic, for more than a decade. In later years, he returned to his childhood home of Glasco to care for his mother, while maintaining business relationships with many of his friends and associates around the world.

Kurt cared deeply for family and made returning for the holidays a priority. He fascinated his nieces and nephews with his imagination and his love for storytelling and was always ready to sing around the piano, to dance wildly with them, or to take them on mini-outdoor adventures in the family convertible.

Kurt is survived by his mother of Glasco; four sisters: Jana Fitzgerald of Philadelphia, PA, Candace Nichols and her husband Ron of Overland Park, KS, Lissa Faye Windhorst and her husband Dave of Olathe, KS, and MaryKris Roberson and her husband Derrick of Manhattan, KS; 13 nieces and nephews: Patrick (Stephanie) Fitzgerald, Keelie and Kathleen Fitzgerald, Rebecca (Clay) Ford, Evan (Ashley) Nichols, Kurt (Maggie) Nichols, Mark and Caroline Nichols, Andy (Lauren) Windhorst, Aaron (Christie) Windhorst, Abby Windhorst, Ellen (Blair) DeBord and Annie Roberson; and four great nieces and nephews: Ava, Landon, William and Carter.

Kurt was preceded in death by his father on July 21, 1987.
