Shane Christopher Abeyta

Shane Christopher Abeyta Shane Abeyta, age 25, died on Sunday October 8, 2017 near Belvue, Kansas.

He was born on June 16, 1992 in Colville, Washington the son of Chris and Kim (Heaton) Abeyta. Shane graduated with the class of 2010 from Piedra Vista High School in Farmington, NM where he excelled in the Drama Club. He recently started his 3rd year of HVAC apprenticeship for Local 2 Sheet Metal Union.

Shane was diagnosed with diabetes at age 10 and after some struggles, he decided to live his life to the fullest. He was a thrill seeker and accomplished this through longboarding, skateboarding, mountain biking and wakeboarding. He made friends very easily because he had the ability to laugh at himself and accepted all that came his way. Some of the most remembered memories of Shane will be his love for kids. At holiday get-togethers he could always be found with the kids, he loved to tease them and be just like them, he truly loved being with his nieces and nephew: Olivia, Zack, Addyson and Riley.

Survivors include his father: Chris Abeyta and his wife Gloria of Farmington, NM; his mother: Kim Preston and her husband Bobby of Bossier City, LA; sister: April Hegarty and her husband David of Durango, CO and brother: Matt Zollinger and his wife Mindy of Manhattan. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents: Wayne and Pat Heaton of Canon City, CO., and his paternal grandparents: Len and Rose Chasten of Montrose, CO and other family members and many friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday October 13, 2017 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas with Rev. Ben Duerfeldt officiating. Please share your memories and stories of Shane with his family.
