David A. Teaford

David A. Teaford David A. Teaford, age 59, of Manhattan, Kansas, died Thursday evening, September 21, 2017, at the Via Christi Village in Manhattan.

He was born on January 7, 1958, in Manhattan, the son of Ralph Lewis and Barbara Evelyn (Remy) Teaford. David was raised in Manhattan where he attended local schools, graduating from Manhattan High in 1976.

Following high school David enlisted with the U.S. Navy where he served as a boiler technician on a Navy Frigate. He was honorably discharged after serving ten years at the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class.

After his military discharge he lived in Kansas City where he attended DeVry Technical College where he studied electrical engineering. While in Kansas City he worked as a truck driver for Joe Booth Tow Service.

He then returned to Manhattan where he went to work at Fred’s Radiator Shop as a repairman and later went to work as a truck driver for Waste Management and later for Wamego Sand which became Midwest Concrete.

David was a skilled craftsman, repairman and mechanic. He enjoyed woodworking and leatherwork and had been working on restoring a 1966 Chevy Truck.

On May 1, 1993, at the Zeandale Community Church in Zeandale, Kansas, he was united in marriage to the former Candy Barr. She survives of their home. Also surviving are his three brothers: Edward L. Teaford, Manhattan; Gary Teaford, Garland, TX; and Fred Teaford of Manhattan. Three nieces, one great niece and one great nephew also survive.

David was preceded in death by his mother in 2002 and by his father in 2016.

The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, September 28, 2017, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home. Cremation will take place with private inurnment at a later date.
