Joseph P. Trotter

Joseph  P. Trotter Joseph Pleasant Trotter, 93, of Saint George, Kansas died September 10, 2017 at his home.

Joe was born June 17, 1924 in Belton, Missouri to Joseph and Emma (Berry) Trotter. After graduation from Belton High School in 1942, Joe joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and served in WW II from 1942 to 1945. After discharge from the navy he attended and graduated from Baker University in 1949 with a BA degree in teaching.

Joe was an employee of United Telecommunications/Sprint for 35 years and retired as Vice President of Public Relations and Public Affairs.

Following his retirement from the telephone company, Joe worked for the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce for 10 years. He was a Boy Scout leader, Little League coach and avid golfer.

Joe is survived by his wife of 67 years Winifred (Westgate) Trotter, who remains in the home; and three children, Janice E. Trotter of Saint George, KS, Joseph W. Trotter of Saint George, KS and Jill K. Bodamer (Calep W. Howard) of Overland Park, KS; three grandsons: Scott B. Bodamer, Christopher A. Bodamer, Kyle A. Bodamer and his older sister Phoebe R. McKee of Independence, MO.

The family will greet friends during a visitation from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday September 18, 2017 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday September 19, 2017 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Kevin Larson officiating. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery south of Lawrence, Kansas.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Sedalia Community Church or the Wamego Senior Center. Contributions may be left in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
