Bobby Bridges

Bobby Bridges Bobby Bridges, age 59, died on Friday June 30, 2017 at the Stoneybrook Retirement Community in Manhattan, Kansas.

He was born on November 21, 1957 in Seoul, Korea the son of Kum Ok Lee and later adoptive father, David A. Bridges. As the son of a career military man he attended schools both overseas and stateside completing his education in Huntsville, Alabama. As a child Bobby loved playing football and baseball and excelled at both, competing in the Little League World Series while they lived in Korea representing the United States. As he got older he shifted his athletic focus to martial arts competing at the highest levels. Bobby worked in various occupations throughout his life, but the one constant was his love of martial arts. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge and once he stopped competing, shifted his focus to teaching others. He especially enjoyed teaching kids. His lifelong pursuit of the martial arts culminated with him attaining the highest level of Grandmaster. Bobby was also an avid reader, enjoyed writing and was a talented artist. Above all, he loved being with his family and friends.

Bobby was preceded in death by his mother: Kum Ok Bridges on April 16, 1988.

Survivors include his parents: David and Judith Bridges of Washington, Kansas; brothers: Paul Bridges (Donna) of Manhattan; David Willbrant (Jennifer) of Hollenberg, Kansas and Edward Willbrant of Clyde, KS along with other family members and friends.

Memorial Services will be at 10:30 am on Thursday July 6, 2017 at the Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Manhattan, Kansas with Father Carlos Ruiz as Celebrant. Inurnment will follow in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Ogden, Kansas.

There will be no visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Terry C. Johnson Center for Basic Cancer Research at KSU in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
