Lorraine F. Hirsch
Lorraine Florence Hirsch, age 89, of Manhattan, died March 23, 2017, at Meadowlark Hills Sloan House.
She was born February 22, 1928, in Page, North Dakota, the daughter of Axel B. and Florence FH. (Sundstrom) Nordgren.
Lorraine graduated from Valley City High School in Valley City, ND. She grew up in Olsburg, KS, and was confirmed in the Olsburg Lutheran Church.
On April 15, 1949, in Manhattan, Kansas, she was married to Lester L. Hirsch. Mr. Hirsch preceded her in death on November 16, 2006.
Mrs. Hirsch was a homemaker and had worked as an assistant cashier at Duckwall’s for three years, secretary and clerk at Kansas Farm Bureau Life Company from 1950 to 1958, and part-time at Federal Land Bank.
She was a member of the St. George American Legion Post # 260 Auxiliary and enjoyed painting, taking pictures, genealogy, traveling, camping, and taking care of her family.
Lorraine is survived by her two sons: Ronald Hirsch and his wife Melinda Catlett of Los Angeles, CA, and Dr. Dale Hirsch and his wife Dr. Anne Hirsch of West Linn, OR; three grandchildren: Lauren and Lindsay Hirsch and Aaron Robbins; one great granddaughter Nora Robbins; one brother B. Duane Nordgren of Manhattan; and one niece and nephew: Sheri and Brent Nordgren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, March 29th, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ben Duerfeldt officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Cemetery in Manhattan, KS.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home.
