Mary E. Gosnell
Mary Ellen Gosnell, age 74, of Manhattan, Kansas, died Sunday evening, March 5, 2017, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan.
She was born on April 21, 1942, in Smith Town, Kentucky, the daughter of Frank and Olli Jane (Wallace) Smith. Mary was raised in Indianapolis, Indiana where she graduated from Washington High School and worked for many years as a machine operator for Ertel Manufacturing.
She later moved to Georgia where she managed Mrs. Winner’s Chicken and Biscuits restaurant in Lilburn for many years prior to becoming the manager for Sonny’s BBQ, in Norcross. She had been a Manhattan resident for the past month, moving here from Georgia.
Mary enjoyed bowling. She was a Dallas Cowboys fan and loved to watch professional wrestling. Her enjoyment of animals was reflected in her compassion for her longtime dog and companion “Sandy.” Above all was her love for family.
She is survived by her four children: Angela Crumbo, Manhattan, KS; Debora Moncrief, Memphis, TN; Raymond Jones, Zephyrhills, FL; and Donald Dunham of Lawrenceville, GA. Also surviving are her six grandchildren and one great grandson; Knox Crumbo.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and by her three siblings.
Memorial services will be held 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Carol A. Francis officiating. Cremation is planned with private scattering at a later date.
