Ivan W. Woellhof
Ivan William Woellhof, age 96, of Manhattan, died February 24, 2017, at Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan.
He was born November 16, 1920, in Clay Center, Kansas, the son of William F. and Grace (Gaden) Woellhof.
Ivan graduated from Clay Center High School in 1939. He served in the United States Army as a Medic during World War II during the Battle of the Bulge as a Tech 4. Following his Honorable Discharge in 1945 he moved to Manhattan and built many homes in the Manhattan area.
He was a member of the St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
On November 8, 1942, in Abilene, Texas, he was married to Maureen G. Falk. Mrs. Woellhof survives of the home. Additional survivors include three sons: Ronald L. Woellhof and his wife Jane of Fredericksburg, TX, Barrett D. Woellhof and his wife Kelly of McPherson, KS, and Gary W. Woellhof and his wife Judy of Lexington, KY; and three grandchildren.
Ivan was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings: Helen Anderson, Eulyla Woellhof and Don Woellhof.
Cremation is planned with memorial services to be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 1st, at the St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 330 Sunset Avenue, Manhattan, with Reverend Michael J. Schmidt officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Alma, Kansas.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. Tuesday, February 28th, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home.
