Catherine M. Danenberg
This is a very sad time for the Danenberg family. Catherine M. Danenberg, age 92, of Manhattan, KS, passed away Friday, February 17, 2017 at Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan.
She was born May 25, 1924 in Salina, KS, the daughter of Reuben and Florence Johnson.
She married Fred Danenberg on November 4, 1946 and they moved to Manhattan in 1962. After raising their children and a short time in retail, she dedicated her time as a volunteer for the church community.
Catherine loved playing bridge and board games, baking desserts, hosting parties, dancing, sewing matching outfits for her and Fred, reading, cheering on K-State and the Royals, and devoted her life to her children and family.
She is survived by her four children, Mike (Jan) Danenberg, Randy (Pamela) Danenberg, Cathy (Steve) Cassell, Mary (the late John) Lignitz; eleven grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren; and her two siblings, Ken (Jerri) Johnson and Pat Giersch.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred Danenberg, and great-grandson, River Parish.
Visitation will be held from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2900 Kimball Ave in Manhattan. Interment will follow the service in the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Good Shepherd House. Contributions may be left in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
