Leonard J. Delgado
Leonard J. Delgado, age 77, of Manhattan, died Thursday January 19, 2017 at the Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan.
He was born on November 6, 1939 in Trinidad, Colorado, the son of Casimero and Eulalia Delgado. He attended Manhattan High School, where he enjoyed participating in wrestling and football. He graduate with the class of 1957.
Leonard served in the National Guard. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Manhattan. He was a past president of the Eagles. He was also a member of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Manhattan.
He worked as a stone mason in the Manhattan area. Leonard took pride in his work and helped building many buildings in the area. He loved to fish and go hunting, especially pheasant hunting. Also he was an avid bowler, he participated in many league and state tournaments. Most of all Leonard loved being around his family and friends.
He was married to Sandra “Sandy” Parrson. She preceded him in death in 2011.
Leonard his survived by his step-children: April Castillo, Dawn Thompson, and Debi Bargabus. He is also survived by his sister, Ruby Silva (John) of Manhattan, and his good friend, Elias Leon, of Manhattan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday January 26, 2017 at the Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Manhattan, with Father Kerry Ninemire as Celebrant. Inurnment will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan.
The Rosary will be recited before the service at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Seven Dolors Catholic Church.
