Catherine  V. Allen CATHERINE ALLEN

Catherine Victoria Allen, age 80, of Westmoreland, died January 3, 2017, at Westy Community Care Home in Westmoreland.

She was born December 29, 1936, in Flush, Kansas, the daughter of William H. and Catherine Victoria (Muller) Cravens, and had been a lifetime Riley and Pottawatomie counties resident.

Catherine graduated from Westmoreland High School, attended Manhattan Area Vo-Tech and many workshops.

She was the Activities Director and CNA at Westy Community Care Home for 17 years and sold Amway.

Catherine was a member of the Riverside Club and the Westmoreland and Manhattan Saddle Clubs. She loved to spend time with her family and she loved her children and spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much.

On August 4, 1955, in Manhattan, she was married to Wilmer C. Allen. Wilmer survives of the home. Additional survivors include three daughters: Victoria “Vicky” Baxter and her husband Gary of Manhattan, KS, Barbara Shepard and her husband Cliff of Ogden, KS, and Lisa Allen of Westmoreland, KS; one brother Dan Cravens of Westmoreland; five grandchildren: Justin Shepard (Deanna), Candy McCormick (Brent), Derek Shepard, Ashley Reves (Billy) and Dustin Harrison; four great-grandchildren: Preston and Kaylee Shepard and Cody and Brooklynn McCormick; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson Lonnie, and by two siblings: James Cravens and Alice Thomas.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 9th, at the Westmoreland United Methodist Church with Pastor David Geisler officiating. Interment will follow in the Valley View Memorial Park east of Manhattan.
