Maria Luise "Lou" Stacey
Maria Luise “Lou” Stacey, age 87, of Manhattan, Kansas, died Wednesday afternoon, December 21, 2016, at the Via Christi Village in Manhattan.
She was born on July 19, 1929, in Viernheim, Germany the daughter of Johan and Theresia (Huckle) Stumpf.
Maria was a longtime Manhattan resident. She worked as an assistant for Janet McCain while her husband, James McCain, was president of KSU. She then went to work in food service for the Derby Food Center at Kansas State.
On February 16, 1959, in Darmstadt, Germany, she was united in marriage to David L. Stacey. He preceded her in death in 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents and by her five sisters.
Maria is survived by her three children: Cornelius Stacey, San Antonio, Texas, Ralph Stacey, Ogden, Kansas and Priscilla Signor and her husband John of Junction City, Kansas. She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Michael, Garen and Kogan Stacey, Brian, Brandon and Mark Wishard and numerous great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at the Fort Riley Post Cemetery at Fort Riley, Kansas. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home by 1:15 p.m. to form a procession to the cemetery.
