Rhonda K. Murphy
Rhonda K. Murphy, age 61, died on Monday December 5, 2016 at Stormont-Vail Health, Topeka, Kansas.
She was born on February 14, 1955 in Iowa City, Iowa and later adopted by Harrison M. “Sarge” and Eileen Mae (Padgett) Murphy. She graduated from Manhattan High School with the class of 1973. Rhonda was involved in many activities but was most known for her abilities as a Master Baton Twirler. She traveled the country, met two Presidents and later taught hundreds of children the art of twirling. Rhonda was a licensed cosmetologist and most recently did residential and commercial housecleaning.
Rhonda enjoyed riding motorcycles, collecting Indian art and Buddah collectables. Above all, she loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father: Harrison “Sarge” on July 15, 1990.
Survivors include her partner of over 25 years: Jerry Padgett of Wamego; her children: Bryan Wade Murphy and Jessa Murphy, both of Manhattan; Sean Padgett of Manhattan, Shannon and Jennel Padgett, both of Jacksonville, FL; her mother: Eileen Mae Murphy of Manhattan; 12 grandchildren; 4 brothers: Doug Murphy of Manhattan, Rodney Zaruba of Fair Hope, AL, Bill Raines of Oxford, MS and John Raines of Puerto Rico; a sister: Jo Ellen Coaten of Oxford, MS and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday December 12, 2016 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas with Rev. Ben Duerfeldt officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
