Beth Ann Mooney

Beth Ann Mooney Beth Ann (Uphoff) Mooney, age 63, of Manhattan, died peacefully at her home of natural causes on November 27, 2016.

Beth was born on June 9, 1953, the daughter of Eugene and Charlotte Uphoff in Fort Riley, Kansas. Beth was raised in a military family and lived many places in her life, including Kansas, Texas, France, and Pennsylvania.

Beth graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Secondary Education. She taught in Westmoreland, Manhattan, and Kansas City, Kansas. Her most recent teaching position was at Riley County Grade School, where she worked with special needs children. Beth had a passion for teaching and learning. She was loved and respected not only by the children she taught but also by her fellow educators. Beth in turn loved her job, her students, and her co-workers.

Beth was a loving and caring mother and devoted sister. She loved to read and had a quick wit and sense of humor. She never took her self too seriously. Beth never stopped learning, whether it was studying the Bible, exploring new teaching methods, or analyzing current events.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Courtney E. Mooney.

She is survived by her son, Joseph R. Mooney, of Pittsburg, Kansas; her siblings: John Uphoff (Eve) of the United Kingdom, Paul Uphoff of Manhattan, Tom Uphoff (Mary) of Tucson, Arizona, David Uphoff (Marcy) of Manhattan, Joseph Uphoff of Houston, Texas, Mary Graham (Michael) of Manhattan, and Andrew Uphoff of Heber Springs, Arkansas. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday December 7, 2016 at the Faith Evangelical Free Church, 1921 Barnes Road, Manhattan, Kansas, with Pastor Steve Ratliff officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan.

Memorial contributions are suggested in memory of Beth to the Faith Evangelical Free Church. Contributions may be left in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
