James "Jim" S. Morgan
James “Jim” Stewart Morgan, age 63, of Manhattan, died October 27, 2016 in Manhattan.
He was born on July 18, 1953 in Dwight, KS, the son of Calvin and Elinor (Fulton) Morgan. He grew up in the Dwight area and has been a Manhattan resident since 1982.
Jim graduated from Council Grove High School in 1971. He has worked in the building materials trade for over 40 years; first with Dwight Building Materials, the Homestore in Manhattan, and for the last 18 years, at Griffith Lumber in Manhattan.
Jim was an active member in the Flint Hills Area Builders Association. He loved hunting, fishing, and playing golf. Jim’s favorite pastime was spending time with his grandsons. He never missed a ball game or school activity and loved to take them camping at the cabin.
On December 29, 1990, he was united in marriage to Linda Marie (Ouellette) Davis. She preceded him in death in 2005.
He is survived by his two daughters: Kylie Davis, Kristian (Davis) and her husband Alan Stevens, grandsons Chase and Logan; his sister: Gayla and her husband Luke Swinney; three brothers: Steve and his wife Becky, Jeff and his wife Mary, and Kris Morgan; mother-in-law: Rita Ouellette, and brother-in-law: Tommy Ouellette and his wife Vicky; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was a friend to many, a stranger to none, and will be missed greatly.
Jim’s family will greet friends during a visitation from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday November 1, 2016 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the First Lutheran Church, 930 Poyntz Avenue, in Manhattan, with the Rev. Jerry Reynolds officiating. Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday November 2, 2016 at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Clyde, Kansas.
Memorial funds in memory of Jim Morgan are suggested to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund). Contributions may be left in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
