Lois Mary Thierolf

Lois Mary Thierolf Lois Mary Thierolf, age 84, of Manhattan, Kansas, died Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at the Meadowlark Hills-Wroten House in Manhattan.

Lois was born on March 17, 1932, in Albion, Nebraska the daughter of Harry and Stella Andrews. At a young age her family moved to Columbus, Nebraska where she attended local schools, graduating from Columbus High School. She then attended Wayne State Teachers College in Wayne, Nebraska for one year.

On May 27, 1951, in Columbus, Nebraska, she was united in marriage to B. Dale Thierolf. Over the next twelve years they made their home in numerous communities throughout Nebraska, then in Council Bluffs, Iowa prior to moving to Kansas City, Missouri.

In 1963, they moved to Manhattan and purchased the Credit Bureau of Manhattan where Lois served as the secretary and treasurer until their retirement in 2008.

Lois was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Manhattan and was actively involved with numerous church circles over the years. She was also a member and past president of both Pilot Club and the local Business and Professional Women in Manhattan. Most important to Lois was her family. This was reflected in her being a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She thoroughly enjoyed attending all of her children and grandchildren’s numerous activities and events.

She is survived by her five children: Connie M. Hampton, Bailey, CO; Gale D. Nebelung (Don), Clay Center, KS; Craig A. Thierolf and Chris L. Thierolf, both of Manhattan and Bruce D. Thierolf (Mindy) of Wamego, KS. Also surviving is her sister: Norma Jean Andrews of Columbus, NE, three grandchildren: Julie Mink (Theo), Benton Thierolf, Wesley Thierolf, four step-grandchildren: Michele Schwanberger (Bryan), Trent Nebelung (Laura), Cassie Pera (Jacob), Ben Chmiel (Judy) and seven great grandchildren.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, B. Dale Thierolf in 2010, her parents, and by one sister, Alice Schreiber.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2016, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 31, 2016, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel with Reverend Troy Bowers officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan.
