Larry C. Peters
Larry C. Peters, age 76, of Manhattan, formerly of Leonardville, died Tuesday October 25, 2016 at the Stoneybrook Rehab in Manhattan. He was born on December 5, 1939 in Wamego, the son of Clarence and Alma (Buchmeier) Peters. He grew up in the rural Paxico area and graduated from Paxico High School with the class of 1957. After graduating high school he served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Larry worked as a carpenter building and framing houses and apartments in the area. He had his own construction/framing company and, Larry and his crew framed many buildings over the years, he always said he probably framed more apartments in the Manhattan area than anyone else.
On February 23, 1963 he was united in marriage to Linda Roberts. She survives at their home in Manhattan. Larry is also survived by his daughters: Tammie Fischer and her husband John of Omaha, Arkansas and Jennifer Phelps of Port Richey, Florida; and also his five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
The family will greet friends during a visitation from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. Friday November 4, 2016 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.
Memorial Service will be held following the visitation at 3:00 p.m. Friday November 4, 2016 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kevin Larson officiating. Inurnment will follow the service in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Manhattan.
Memorial funds in memory of Mr. Peters are suggested to the American Heart Association. Contributions may be left in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
