Laurence A. Clement

Laurence A. Clement Laurence Allen Clement, age 90, died on Wednesday February 11, 2015 at the Via Christi Village, Manhattan, Kansas.

He was born on May 23, 1924 in Buffalo, New York the son of Harold T. and Constance (Allen) Clement. Laurence graduated from the Pomfret School and attended Yale University for a year; he then entered the United States Air Force. He was a B26 bomber pilot during WWII and was honorably discharged as a Captain. Following his military service he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Yale with the class of ‘45w. Laurence was an Industrial engineer where his expertise was in printing presses. His work took him and his family to New York City, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania. He and Cecilia moved to Manhattan, Kansas following their retirement in 2003.

Laurence was united in marriage to Cecilia Evans on June 25, 1948 in Buffalo, New York. This union was blessed with 3 children: James, Laurence and Cecilia.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother: Harold T. Clement, Jr., and 2 sisters: Marion C. Curnen and Claire C. Ewing.

Survivors include his wife: Cecilia Evans Clement of Manhattan, KS; sons: James C.E. Clement of East Aurora, NY and Laurence A. Clement Jr. and his wife Lynn M. Ewanow of Manhattan, KS; a daughter: Cecilia C. Hennessy of St. Paul, MN. He is also survived by a granddaughter: Cecilia L. Hennessy of St. Paul, MN and a sister: Constance Clement Leslie of Edgartown, Mass.

Private Memorial Services and inurnment will be held at a later date.
